Difference Between TRIR and TRIFR

Metric Description Key Difference
TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) Measures the number of recordable workplace incidents per total hours worked. It is commonly used in the U.S. and follows OSHA standards. Calculated using a standard factor of 200,000, which represents the total hours worked by 100 full-time employees in a year.
TRIFR (Total Recordable Incident Frequency Rate) Also measures the frequency of recordable workplace incidents but is more commonly used in international standards, including Australia and the UK. Uses a larger standard factor of 1,000,000, making it useful for industries with larger workforces and for global comparisons.
